Concrete infrastructures including roads, railways, bridges and tunnels, etc., are the fundamental public facilities providing services to sustain and support societal living conditions. The role of strong and durable concrete constructions is enable our society to be more sustainably and healthier. However, it is recognized that the diverse deteriorated factors can contribute to the major damages of concrete structures in durability, bearing capacity and so on during their service life. Such impacts are susceptible to induce early-stage deterioration and aging on concrete structures, challenging the safety hazards and security threats to human.

Therefore, appropriate strategies for sustainable management must be determined and implement proper maintenance, contribute to the soundness and the longevity of concrete structures, achieving a sustainable society. Sustainable management has been defined as the facilities of sustainable practices in all aspects that maintain their performance above the required level during their services life.
